چکیده

Aerva javanica belonging to family (Amaranthaceae) roots and flowers are reported to possess medicinal properties against rheumatism and kidney problems. A. javanica plant is used as Pasanabheda means one which breaks the kidney stone and therefore, in Gujarati it is commonly known as Patharphod. Pharmacognostical evaluation including examination of morphological and microscopical characters, determination of quality control parameters such as ash values, extractive values, moisture content, foreign matter were carried out. Hence, the present attempt was undertaken to investigate the pharmacognostical studies on aerial parts of Aerva Javanica. The study revealed the presence of branched trichome, rosette type calcium oxalate crystals in lamina and midrib of leaf, anomocytic stomata and anomalous growth with indistinct 9-10 layers of cork and 12-14 layers of cortex in stem observed in transverse section of stem in the Aerva Javanica.

Isolation and relative stereochemistry of lippialactone, a new antimalarial compound from Lippia javanica.

The aerial parts of Lippia javanica were investigated for biologically active chemical compounds present in them. Chromatographic separation of the ethyl acetate extract of the aerial parts yielded a new antimalarial α-pyrone, lippialactone (2). Lippialactone is active against the chloroquine-sensitive D10 strain of Plasmodium falciparum with an IC50 value of 9.1 μg/mL, and is also mildly cytot...

A review of chemistry and biological activities of the genus Aerva--a desert plant.

There are approximately 28 species of Aerva genus, but only a few species are medicinal of which A. persica, A. lanata and A. javanica are of great value. A number of flavonol glycosides (e.g., aervanone, kaempferol-3-galactoside, isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-glucoside) have been reported from Aerva persica as major phytoconstituents and the minor constituents are β-cyanins (glycine betaine and trigone...
